Facebook Pages, Groups and Profile; Their Differences

Facebook provides different features for people, organizations and brands/businesses to have them connected and engaged with friends, family and other audience/community.

We might get confused and create the wrong entity to represent ourselves on Facebook.

Facebook Pages are for celebrities, businesses, organizations and brands to share their stories and connect/engage with audience created by official representatives.

Facebook Groups are for specific sets of people who have similar interests on an individual entity, be it a brand, business, person, event or anything.

Facebook Profile timeline are for individuals/people for sharing their photos, stories, and experiences to their family, friends and people they wish.

Use of Facebook profiles by business entities and creating a page by a person not related to the entity are against the Facebook Terms and conditions.

To better understand the differences between Facebook Page, Group or Profile, the below tabular representation will be helpful:

Basically, a page need to be created and managed by an official representative; has more options to engage with the audience and monitor the results. A group has lesser controls based on analytics. Profiles are for individuals only.
