Facebook conversion
We went through Facebook Pages, Groups and Profile and Their Differences earlier. This blog post is to know more about the Facebook Conversions and merging of these popular facebook features
At different points in time, we might have been looking to convert the features of Facebook from one form to another. Facebook profile to a page, a group to a page, or a page to a group, etc. There are multiple reasons to do that.
One such example is being unaware of the difference between the features, Starting a page for a community/group and later realise that a Facebook group should have been started rather than a page.
The below is to know whether the conversion is possible and how to do it(All the responses given here are based on Facebook Help Center and Community:
Converting Facebook profile/account into a Page
Yes, check this Facebook Help link to know "How to convert personal account to a Facebook Page."
Converting Facebook profile into a Group
It is not possible to convert a Facebook account to a group. Rather you can create a group and add all your friends to the group.
Converting Facebook Page back to a Profile
If you've accidentally converted your personal account to a Facebook Page, you can submit a request for a reversal. Please keep in mind that it's a violation of Facebook's Terms to maintain a personal account for anything other than yourself.
Converting Facebook Fan page into a Group
It is not possible to convert page into a group. You need to create a group and add ask your page followers to join the group.
Converting Facebook Group into a Profile
It is not possible.
Converting Facebook Group into a Page
It is currently not possible to convert Facebook groups into Pages. We recommend that you create a Page and notify your group members about it.
Even though there is no limit to the number of people your group can have, you will not be able to send your group a message if it has more than 250 members. If your group has more than 250 members, notify them by posting in the group.
Instead, create a new Page and notify your group members that you'll be using the Page instead of the group going forward.

Facebook Pages, Groups and Profile; Their Differences
Facebook provides different features for people, organizations and brands/businesses to have them connected and engaged with friends, family and other audience/community.
We might get confused and create the wrong entity to represent ourselves on Facebook.
Facebook Pages are for celebrities, businesses, organizations and brands to share their stories and connect/engage with audience created by official representatives.
Facebook Groups are for specific sets of people who have similar interests on an individual entity, be it a brand, business, person, event or anything.
Facebook Profile timeline are for individuals/people for sharing their photos, stories, and experiences to their family, friends and people they wish.
Use of Facebook profiles by business entities and creating a page by a person not related to the entity are against the Facebook Terms and conditions.
To better understand the differences between Facebook Page, Group or Profile, the below tabular representation will be helpful:

Basically, a page need to be created and managed by an official representative; has more options to engage with the audience and monitor the results. A group has lesser controls based on analytics. Profiles are for individuals only.

Facebook Claim a business page
A Facebook Page may exist for your business even if you or someone else from your business didn't create it.
Some reasons when a page is created without you creating it:
when someone checks into a place that doesn't already have a Page, a new Page gets created to represent the location.
When some of your employer tries to add his work details on the Facebook profile when the company page is not available.
You can either report the page or claim it, if it is not administered. To claim it:
From the Page, click the menu.
Select Is this your business?.
Follow the steps that appear on your screen. Add and verify information about your business like the address and website and click Continue.
Next, Facebook will ask you to claim your Page to prevent other people from becoming an admin without your permission. Choose to verify your connection to the business by Email or by uploading Documentation:
Email: Choose this option if you have an email address associated with your Facebook account that is officially issued to you by your business. Email addresses from generic providers like Yahoo! or Gmail will not be accepted. The email address should correspond to your business's name (ex: jane.doe@acmeproducts.com).
Documentation: Upload a scan or photo of an official document that shows your business's name and address (ex: phone bill, business license, business tax file, articles of incorporation, etc.).
Click Submit.
Most of the above content are from the Facebook Help Center page on How do I claim a Page that already exists for my business?
There has been a common issue that there is no option "Is this your business?" to claim a page.
Clicking on 'Do you know the owner' option can send an email to a person you wish. But there are no options on the email to claim the page either; rather it merely redirects to the same page again with no option to claim the page.
Contacting Facebook regarding this has not helped many businesses and still the issue persists.
Is the Facebook option "Claim a (business) page" glitchy?

Social Media is more of engagement...
Businesses started using Social Media to market their brands and marketing only; No encouragement seen to have conversation by brands nor do they converse. Many of the businesses fail to look at the fact that Social Media Can be the best used channel/medium for customer relationship, customer support, engagement and more similar purposes.
Consumers have the right to voice their opinions, feedback, ask questions, post complaints, etc. That is the difference between the other traditional media and Social Media. Businesses forget that and so Social Media becomes a major disaster for those businesses. When the resources are tapped optimally, the results will be more delightful.
Cheers to Social Media Success :)

Clicking on More reveals Translate, Books, Offers, Wallet, Shopping, Blogger, Finance and Photos with 'Even more from Google' link which directs to the Google Products list page.

Log in via Facebook - Temporary Issue
Are you not able to log in via Facebook? Login via Facebook has been experiencing a hiccup.
If you are not logged in to facebook and you try to log in to any application which support Facebook login like one of ours http://www.socialnetgateapp.com/, you'll end up with an error page.
The redirect URL from Facebook API is wrong https://www./login.php?skip_api_login=1&api_key= Where the "facebook.com" before "/login.php" is missing.
This goes the same for all apps that uses Log in via Facebook. There are bugs reported on the same. https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/501708806589323/
It will work fine if you log in to Facebook first, then try loggging to the app via Facebook login. This is the solution for now.
We'll keep you posted on the update. Stay tuned.

Twitter - Report individual Tweet
Twitter has updated the Twitter Rules and an option to report individual tweet. These changes are implemented following threats received by some prominent female users in the U.K.
They are also in the process to make the ability to reports threats, scam or abuse easier.
To report a Tweet:
Navigate to the Tweet you’d like to report.
Tap the ••• icon to bring up the off-screen menu.
Select Report Tweet and then one of the options below.
Select Submit (or Next if reporting abuse; see below for details) or Cancel to complete the report or block the user.+

Google+ photos update!
Easier Photos uploads and activities on the uploaded photos!
Here is an update from Jon Emerson
Making it easier to move, download, and upload your Google+ photos
Over the past few weeks, it’s been a blast to hear what you think of the new Google+ Photos. We’re excited about the ways people are using Auto Awesome, Highlights, photo search, and other new features.
You’ve also told us a few ways we can make Google+ Photos even better, so today we’re making some improvements based on your feedback:
- A new “Move” option makes it easy to move photos between albums. Just pick a few photos in an album (or click the new “Select” link to select all of them) and choose where they go.
- Easier photo downloads. Once you’ve selected photos, use the new “Download” option to save them to your computer.
- Faster uploading for large sets of photos. We’ve made a few small changes that make adding photos from your desktop an even smoother process.
We hope this latest set of changes makes managing your photos with Google+ easier than ever. We’ll keep improving Google+ Photos based on your feedback, so please keep it coming.
It has to be noted that you already had option to share your photos with just the right people. And it's easy to change who can see your albums, even after you share. Find out more at http://www.google.com/+/learnmore/photos

Coffeehouses - Social Networking on 1600s
Social Networking in the 1600s
People were distracted to social networking even in the 17th Century. The way that we socialize only has changed but the concept remains.
LONDON — SOCIAL networks stand accused of being enemies of productivity. According to one popular (if questionable) infographic circulating online, the use of Facebook, Twitter and other such sites at work costs the American economy $650 billion each year. Our attention spans are atrophying, our test scores declining, all because of these “weapons of mass distraction.”
Yet such worries have arisen before. In England in the late 1600s, very similar concerns were expressed about another new media-sharing environment, the allure of which seemed to be undermining young people’s ability to concentrate on their studies or their work: the coffeehouse. It was the social-networking site of its day.

You will be asked to like a Facebook page and share the message or page to your Facebook Timeline. This seems to be very simple and everyone will do it. But these are fake pages created to gather likes unethically and sell the pages.
The reason that is mentioned for the giveaway is that the items are unsealed and can't be sold. Is that even believable? Do you think a company will give away thousands dollar worth of products for free just because the package is unsealed/open?
What do the Scammers gain?
The scammers get their page to be liked by hundreds/thousands of people. Shared to even more people. Once large numbers of likes are gained, it will be sold on the Black Market similar to buying Facebook likes, shares, comments, etc unethically.
What do you lose by liking/sharing?
Your reputation will be lost!
You like and share a scam page and you look like a spammer to your friends. You do not like to be seen as a person without ethical standards, do you?
Stay aware and away from these scams!

Facebook Other folders
Facebook Other folders is a known option. The Facebook messages are filtered and goes to other folder if spam or not relevant.
Now to send messages to profiles' inbox you need to pay $0.35 USD. Facebook says that the payment is to confirm that the message isn't spam.
Messages sent free of cost will reach the 'Other' folder. This folder will contain all the messages and emails that have been filtered out of your inbox - similar to gmail 'SPAM'
Messages sent to Facebook pages doesn't have this option. This might be a limited feature available only in for US profiles.

Facebook has announced release of Facebook Home by April 12 as an App and integrated with HTC First™ in the US.
In short, Facebook Home is an Android App that, when installed, will be present on your mobile home screen with all actiivities from people around you on Facebook.
It will not be available for Android Gingerbread OS or earlier versions.
To download Facebook Home app to your Android phone, you need to have the updated Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps.
You can get the free download on April 12 or pre-order the HTC First™ and get Home pre-installed in your device and it works best in HTC Device.
Here is what Facebook explains on what Facebook Home is on their Help Center page
Facebook Home is software for your phone designed to put your friends above everything else. You can download Facebook Home for free or purchase it pre-installed on a phone. Facebook Home works together with the Facebook for Android and Facebook Messenger apps to enable its main features:
- Cover feed: Glance at your phone for photos and posts from your Facebook News Feed.
- Chat heads: Send and receive texts and Facebook messages in one place. Open, close and drag chat heads around your screen to keep chatting while you’re using other apps.
- Notifications: See news as it happens with bigger, bolder notifications on your home screen.
- App launcher: Get right to your favorite apps and post to Facebook from the same place.
How will this turn out depends on the users. Would the users be overwhelmed to have this or make it a fad? We need to wait for social media fanatics' response.
Facebook has grabbed an opportunity right from their competitors where Google missed the opportunity to market Google+ via Android!

Video content for Social Media
YouTube now has more than a billion unique users every single month. That means almost half the people on the Internet visits YouTube.
Read from YouTube blog - http://goo.gl/FKRHr
Earlier this year, Twitter released a Video-Sharing iOS App - Vine ! Read More about Vine - http://goo.gl/MGgYO
This shows YouTube and video content has the power to promote your company brand online. YouTube says that the first 15 seconds of the video decide whether the content is engaging. Some simple tips on creating a Video
1. Content for Social Media should be interesting and communication/engagement starter. Basic ideas for video content include:
Introduction video about your product/service,
How Tos/Tutorials on using the product/service,
Creative ways to use your product,
Teasers,
Celebrations at the Company,
Stalls/Exhibition exposure,
Employees talk,
Update on products/services & New product release and more
All the above are content related to your company. While you use social media as a marketing medium, it is also important to create and publish content that are general industry updates, tips, advises, etc.
2. Use your existing Social Media presence to know what the audience expect from you. They might not want you bombarding marketing content on their feed.
3. Keep your videos brief and to the point. Lengthening the video makes it less appealing and interest will be lost.
4. Use simple and easily understandable language. It is better to replace Technical terms with an equivalent basic word.
5. Since the time is short, the content needs to be creative.
6. There has to be a message conveyed in the video. Beating around the bush is again an interest loser. The initial seconds can be used to tell what the video is about.
7. At the end of the video, include any references/credits and contact information as and when required. Video description can also be used for the purpose.
8. Make sure the video is compatible with all possible players and devices. Have the same videos converted in to various video formats.
9. Video Content, when distributed, has to be properly optimized for the right keywords. But Video publishing/distribution is a separate topic to be discussed as an individual blog.
